Father Corapi Saint or Sinner

Let the Truth Be Known

Father John Corapi of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT), among the nation’s most popular Catholic evangelists, was placed on “administrative leave” following allegations of misconduct leveled against him by a former employee.

Announced on the priest’s personal website, the news shocked Catholics who have been inspired by his robust articulation of Church teaching, and his powerful personal conversion story.
He stated, “On Ash Wednesday I learned that a former employee sent a three-page letter to several bishops accusing me of everything from drug addiction to multiple sexual exploits with her and several other adult women.”
What we know is not much. It would be easy for us to jump on one side of the bandwagon of  defenders or those who oppose Fr. Corapi purely from his anti Gay position. However, we have decided to take the prudent course of action, and let more facts come out on the matter. I do think there should be a presumption of innocence and not guilt. Fr. Corapi will have his day in court.
That said Fr. Corapi is not helping his own defense by issue reckless statements accusing the local bishop of putting Fr. Corapi on administrative leave, when it was done by a superior of his order. His show on ETWN has been removed until the accusations or either proved or disproved.
Fr. Corpapi is no friend of the Rainbow Sash Movement and it would be all to easy to attack him; however, we have chosen to take the higher ground and acknowledge that we will have to wait and see whether the accusations turn out to be true or false.
