The Rainbow Sash Movement believes in the autonomy and dignity of the human individual. It is also our belief based on “Positive subsidiarity”, which holds that all other forms of society, from the family to the state, the Church and the international order, should be in the service of the human person. This is one of the pillars of the Church’s Social Teaching. It also flies in the face of what US Conference of Catholic Bishops are doing in their Holy War against LGBT people generally and Gay Marriage in particular.
Subsidiarity was first formally developed in the encyclical Rerum Novarum of 1891 by Pope Leo XIII, in an attempt to find a balance between capitalism and communism. This principle was further developed in Pope Pius XI’s encyclical Quadragesimo Anno of 1931, and Economic Justice for All by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
LGBT Civil Rights is more about the individual rights, and should hold sway over those who would promote its opposition either in the name of religious freedom, or God. Simply put this is an example of the idolization of homophobia in the Mystical Body of Christ.
